Closing Thoughts
Overall this journey across America's Aquarium has given us context to the question of "Why?" Be it for education, as in the case of the National Aquarium and Tennessee Aquarium. Or for rehabilitation as in the case of the New England Aquarium and the Alaska Sea Life Center. And as the previous section showed, for entertainment, as in the case of SeaWorld San Diego and Sea Life Park Hawaii. Of course, as we also have seen these three categories are not singular and can overlap in purpose. The variety of the forms and how they are designed with these purposes is a notable feature as well. Such as the compact conservation facility that is the Alaska sealife center to the sprawling built environment of SeaWorld San Diego. The diversity of aquariums and their functions is something to truly behold.
