The Great Mosque and Hospital of Divrigi - World Heritage
The Great Mosque and Hospital of Divrigi is a Seljuk mosque covered in beautiful relief sculptures. The building is defined by these features and is a UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site. The exhibit focuses primarily on Islamic geometries with symbols like Rub-el-Hizb or the eight-pointed star from Seljuk traditional architecture/art.
Sancaklar Mosuqe
Similar to the Shinjuku Buddhist Temple, the Sancaklar Mosque moves away from traditional mosque imagery. Architect Emre Arolat intended for the space to connect to the emotional spirit rather than the physical sense of a mosque. He strips away the huge domes, intricate geometries, focusing primarily on the way light moves. Only a tower-like minaret connects it to past forms.
